"long-neck" or "giraffe" tribe

We used to see the Karen people on television documentaries, magazines and encyclopedias. They also are called as the "long-neck" or "giraffe" tribe. Women always belong to different sub-group of the Karen known as the Padaung. Such women brass rings on their neck. There are other different group who do not practice this traditional. The Karen people wear these ring to elongate the wearer's neck. some of chiropractors or orthopedics surgeon state that this would lead to paralysis or death. In fact the appearance of a longer neck is a visual illusion. The weight of the rings pushes down the collar bone, as well as the upper ribs, to such an angle that the collar bone actually appears to be a part of the neck!
